Prevention Through Awareness Project: What kind of words are used in domestic and gender-based violence related news

The WordCLoud image you can see in this article shows a sample of irrelevant vocabulary used in news headlines about domestic and gender based violence.

The words highlighted in red are intended to attract readers’ attention, promising “action” or more details. The point is that these topics should be presented as serious problem for the community and not just as interesting and intriguing content. In this case, sensitive news is used as a scene through which the media attracts more readers.

The words “action”, “more details”, “drama” are used as clickbaits. These words just provoke the imagination but do not deliver any valuable information for the reader.
